John B. Holcomb

COL (Ret.) Dr. John Bradley Holcomb is a world-renowned trauma surgeon and researcher with a distinguished career in military and academic medicine. After earning his M.D. from the University of Arkansas, he served in the U.S. Army for over 23 years, including a decade-long deployment with the Joint Special Operations Command. He eventually led the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research as Commander and served as the Trauma Consultant for the Army Surgeon General.
A three-time recipient of the Army’s Greatest Invention award, Dr. Holcomb has received numerous accolades for his service, including the Lifetime Achievement Award in Trauma Resuscitation Science from the American Heart Association and the United States Special Operations Command Medal. Since retiring from active duty in 2008, he has held professorships at UT Health Houston and the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
Beyond his clinical and academic work, Dr. Holcomb is a successful entrepreneur and a founder/Co-CEO of a healthcare IT company. He is a prolific researcher with over 650 peer-reviewed articles and serves on the editorial boards of more than 35 scientific journals. His expertise in trauma, resuscitation, and tactical combat casualty care makes him one of the foremost authorities in his field globally.
